A person wearing a long coat stands on a wooden dock overlooking a body of water. Several ships are visible in the distance. The sky is overcast, and the dock appears wet, suggesting recent rain.

EXPLORE

Founded in 1811, Astoria has a history of reinventing itself.

Where the River meets the Ocean

The mighty Columbia River has shaped this little city into a resilient community. Fur traders, loggers, fishers, poets, painters, and musicians, this town has been home to many over the years.

Astoria is a balancing act. It’s old but feels new and exciting. It’s a small town but has that big city feel about it. The locals are a tight-knit community, but we welcome travelers.

A red tram with blurred motion passes by on a street, with plant boxes containing red and yellow flowers visible in the foreground.
A calm body of water with wooden posts protruding from the surface. Two large cargo ships are visible in the distance, with mountains under a clear blue sky in the background.

Explore art galleries and shops of local makers, tour the many breweries, museums, and historic downtown – this little town has more to offer than you may think.

The beach is just a short drive away. Head over to Fort Stevens State Park for miles of hiking and biking trails, historic sites, and boating options.

View of two cargo ships on the ocean, framed by a red metal railing in the foreground. The ships are under a partly cloudy sky, with distant hills visible on the horizon.
Person wearing a beige jacket and white pants standing on a rock by a body of water. A large bridge spans the background on a cloudy day, with wooden posts rising from the water. The person appears to be adjusting their hat.
A two-story white wooden building with green-trimmed windows and chipped paint. A sign reads "Salmon For All." String lights hang across the exterior. The sky is overcast.
