#AdriftCareers Case Study: Beck Blasko

from Bartender to Director of Human Resources to COO

There have been many twists and turns to Beck’s career here at Adrift Hospitality. Starting as a part-time bartender, then moving up to Bar Manager and then Food and Beverage Manager,  to Human Resources Manager and finally to her current role as COO of Adrift Hospitality.

Beck started her journey on the east coast, moving to Long Beach to work on a horse farm & train German Shepherds. But she was soon a bit bored and started looking for a side job, where she ended up working as a bartender at Pickled Fish. After bartending part-time for six months, Beck was promoted to Bar Manager which she did for two years. However, after meeting her husband (a teacher in Ilwaco) she realized she didn’t want to work night shift anymore. After discussions with CEO Tiffany Turner, she was offered the Food and Beverage Director role, a new position for the company. After a few years, Adrift Hospitality had reached over 100 employees, and it was clear the company needed a Human Resources Manager.  Beck filled the role and took on a different kind of leadership within the company.

Tiffany had first mentioned the possibility of the COO role a few years ago and it was one of the reasons Beck decided to go back to school for her MBA. In November 2019, it all came together and Beck moved from HR Manager to COO.

As well as being COO, Beck loves to spend time with her two dogs and husband. Beck enjoys camping and snowboarding on the weekends, and also has a side business where she grow microgreens for local restaurants (including Pickled Fish and Shelburne). Beck is currently attending Presidio Graduate School for her MBA. She’s also a plant lover extraordinaire.
