#AdriftCareers Guest Blog: Chloe Stringer

Hey, my name is Chloe, I am a rising senior at Ilwaco High School. I’m the laundry gal and more recently the marketing intern for the 2022 summer season. I’m a member of the Youth Cohort committee, and I get to be a part of deciding what programs should be available to the young adult employees and planning the youth kickoff parties. Adrift Hospitality offers a great place to learn what it’s like having a job and grow confidence, plus programs that provide college tuition help, how to do W2’s and taxes, and more.

I started my first job working at Adrift in the laundry room at the end of June 2020, shortly after my mom started. At the beginning of July 2022, I began my marketing internship. I love being creative, and the marketing internship has been a great experience for me. It has helped me be less shy and grow confidence in myself. Adrift Hospitality has been great to work at, I love my coworkers, and it really feels like a family. I feel comfortable to ask for help from anyone.

On a typical day I’ll start with a laundry shift and finish the day in the office doing various marketing tasks. Usually, I’ll check engagement and respond to comments, or repost content. Sometimes my day includes walking around town and getting pictures or videos to post on the socials, and occasionally I’ll answer phones. I’ve enjoyed this position more than I was expecting! It’s been so much fun composing photos for Instagram stories or making TikToks of the pets that visit! Phone calls were intimidating at first, and coming up with quality captions has been a learning curve, but it’s all starting to come easier to me.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, boyfriend, and cats. I love doing anything arts and crafts related, and enjoying the outdoors. In the future, I would love to work in marketing and graphic design! I’m thankful for the opportunities this internship has given me, and know that I’ve gained relevant skills for future roles.
