How to Live, Distance Learn, and Work from the Beach

Learn and work from the beach!

Many of our work and education lives have been upended in recent months. And while working or learning from home isn’t always ideal, you might be able to find a little peace here at the beach. Keep reading to learn about our best properties for distance learning and remote work, and some other things to do in the area to enhance your stay.

Boardwalk Cottages

While all of our properties have Wifi, and most rooms have some kind of seating area, if you really plan to post up and get some work or digital learning done during your stay, our newest property Boardwalk Cottages might be your best option. Tucked just behind the main downtown of Long Beach and just a few minutes walk to the beach, many of the cottages have their own full kitchens or kitchenettes, perfect for prolonged stays. Check out all of our room options.

All work and no play…

Whether you decide to stay at Boardwalk Cottages, Shelburne Hotel, or Inn at Discovery Coast, they all share amenities with Adrift Hotel. That means you get access to bikes to cruise the discovery trail, a heated salt water pool, and our beautiful barrel sauna. Life is stressful at the moment, make sure to fit in some play time with your work and school schedule!

Get out!

In addition to on property amenities, the Peninsula is a great place to get out and explore. Who says you can’t mix work and pleasure! Check out our 48 Hr Travel Guide.

Enhance Your Distance Learning

With many parents having to shift their kid’s education to all or mostly online, finding ways to keep the kids engaged and learning can be a challenge. The Peninsula has a number of great “educational” and fun places to visit that could be a wonderful addition to a normal day’s learning. The Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum in Ilwaco is scheduled to reopen on October 7th, Wednesdays-Saturdays 10-4, and is offering free admission through the end of the year. Learn about the Chinook Indian Nation, early settlements along Washington’s SW coast, and see a historic train car and running model of the train that used to run up and down the Peninsula.
