Blue skies are coming back, baby! Spring is just around the corner. It’s time to plan your trip out to the coast and what you want to do when you get there.

Borrow a bike! Play in the pool! Sweat in the sauna! Bask on the beach! We put together this guide for you with ideas for vacation activities and leisure inspiration.

Three children in a swimming pool, visible from the water up. Each child wears colorful swimming goggles. The background shows a wooden fence, three red chairs, and a life buoy mounted on the fence.

Dive In!

Head over to the Pool House and get into the heated, covered, saline pool, or sweat it out in the barrel sauna at Adrift Hotel + Spa – available to guests of our Long Beach Peninsula properties, Adrift Hotel, Boardwalk Cottages, Inn at Discovery Coast and Shelburne Hotel.

You can also book online for spa services at the Adrift Spa if you are looking for a little pampering and polishing during your stay. Book ahead to secure a spot!

On the Oregon side, you’ll find a heated, indoor, saline pool and a spacious adjoining sauna at Ashore Hotel. Take a dip or have a sweat and then gather around the outdoor fire pit after a long day of play!

Appreciate Wild Spaces!

There are so many great ways to explore the natural beauty of the coast. How about from a horse? Guided horse rides are available at West Coast Horse Rides right around the corner from Adrift Hotel + Spa and the Boardwalk Cottages.

The Long Beach Peninsula is home to a wildlife refuge, Audubon bird areas, and countless whale watching spots year round. (See our guide to whale watching!) The viewing platforms in and around the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center and North Head Lighthouse offer the best viewing. Venture out a little further to Cape Disappointment to watch the waves at Waikiki Beach. You will not be disappointed!

A person rides a white horse along the shoreline of a beach. The waves roll in the background, and the sand appears wet from the tide. The sky is clear and pale.
Three people are surfing near the shore with waves breaking around them. One person is standing on a surfboard, another is sitting on a surfboard, and the third is in the water smiling. All are wearing wetsuits. The sky is overcast.

Surf’s Up, Dude!

With 28 miles of ocean beach, the Long Beach Peninsula is a natural place to start surfing. Skookum Surf Company in Long Beach, offers gear rental and surf lessons. They also have electric hydrofoil lessons. Book online!

Staying at Ashore Hotel? Lucky you! Check out Cleanline and Seaside Surf Shop for your surfing gear. If you’re looking for a lesson to get in the water, go with Oregon Surf Adventures, and their certified instructors who know the rugged natural landscape of the Oregon Coast like no other.

Prefer to watch the waves from a little bit further away? Come up to Pickled Fish restaurant at the top of Adrift Hotel + Spa for a little food & drink and gaze out over miles of coastline.

Going Places in Seaside!

The Oregon Coast is so stunningly beautiful, you’ll want to see it from above. Take off with Oregon Helicopters Seaside for amazing sunset views and discover the ocean in ways you’ve never seen before.

Keep your balance at High Life Adventure Park! This aerial challenge course is fun for the whole family. Open to all ages and experience levels, you can keep it simple or go for the exciting free-fall experience.

You can also slow things down with a leisurely stroll on the promenade or a beach bike cruise. Ashore Hotel guests have access to free beach bike rental.

A young man and woman are riding bicycles along a path by the beach. The man is wearing a black t-shirt and shorts, while the woman is wearing a black sweater and pants. They are smiling and seem to be enjoying the sunny day. The beach and ocean are in the background.
Two people sit on the sand near a small campfire on a beach. One person holds a s'more in their hands, with melted chocolate and marshmallow visible. The scene includes beach sand, logs in the fire, and some scattered items around them.
