A small wooden pyramid-shaped structure sits alone on a sandy beach with an overcast sky and ocean in the background. Grassy dunes are visible to the left, and the beach is mostly empty. The light from the setting sun casts a soft, pinkish hue on the clouds.

SUSTAINABILITY

CHANGING THE WORLD THROUGH SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL

Two people walk alongside their bicycles on a paved path surrounded by tall grass and bushes. One wears a beige jacket, and the other a denim vest with a beanie. They appear to be engaged in conversation.

Since our first hotel, we’ve been dedicated to community values, social justice, and environmental stewardship. Through fair employment, sustainable practices, and strong partnerships with local organizations, we believe business and hospitality can drive positive change. We proudly support local makers, artisans, farmers, and foragers by featuring their work in our hotels, restaurants, and distillery.

We promote sustainable travel by prioritizing eco-friendly practices, energy efficiency, and waste reduction, while minimizing our environmental impact. By sourcing locally and supporting conservation, we foster responsible tourism that benefits both travelers and the communities they visit.

Social Purpose Corporation

In 2018, we became a Social Purpose Corporation, a type of for-profit corporation that legally enables us to place social and environmental considerations at the same level as fiscal decisions.

Becoming a Social Purpose Corporation allows us to pursue a true triple bottom line, for people, planet, and profit.

Certified B-Corporation

In 2019, we became a Certified B Corporation. B corpsâ„¢ are people using business as a force for good

The bridge connects to a landmass in the distance across the water. A small child in a bright yellow jacket and blue boots walks along a dirt path surrounded by tall green grass and shrubs. The sky is overcast, creating a calm and natural atmosphere.

B-GOOD

Certified B Corporations® meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. Certified B corporations® are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on their workers, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment.

Why we became B corpâ„¢

From our very first hotel, we have been committed to community values, social justice and environmental stewardship. We believe that through fair employment, sustainable practices and close collaboration with local partners who share our values, business and hospitality can be a force for good in the world.  We decided to go through the process of becoming a benefit corporation for three reasons:

Accountability | We wanted to be accountable for the work we’re doing. We can trust that our efforts make a real difference, as they’ve been measured by an impartial, external certification body.

Community | We wanted to join a community of over 2000 businesses, in 65 countries across the world, who share the same values as we do. Sharing our successes and learning from others is incredibly valuable to us.

Transparency | As we continue to grow and expand our business, we want to do so with radical transparency. Certification as a B-corp gives us transparency and an objective measure of our efforts.

SPEARHEADING CHANGE

The Surfrider Foundation’s Ocean Friendly Restaurants & Hotels program recognizes businesses committed to making sustainable choices for our ocean so that people can stay and dine with peace of mind.

We received our first Ocean Friendly designation in 2018 at Pickled Fish Restaurant and have continued to certify each of our businesses as we opened. All of our restaurants and hotels are certified ocean-friendly. In launching the Ocean Friendly Hotel program, Adrift Hospitality properties were the first to become certified!

We source products and packaging that eliminate single-use plastics, instead using biodegradable and reusable options while encouraging our guests to use refillable drink containers. In addition, all our properties follow a strict set of environmentally-friendly standards that can allow you to travel with peace of mind.
