A Wintery Weekend Trip to Inn at Discovery Coast
A Wintery Weekend at the Inn
Candace Molatore, @hey.candace, recently visited us at the Inn at Discovery Coast and she documented her stay in this lovely blog post. Follow along on her wintery beach adventures.
This past weekend, my friends and I took a trip out to Long Beach, WA to stay at Adrift Hotel! After checking out photos of the property on instagram, I couldn’t wait to pack my bags and head out for a weekend getaway. A scenic 2hr drive from Portland, Adrift Hospitality is made up of a few properties nestled along the beach at the end of an adorable coastal town. We stayed at the Inn at Discovery Coast, one of their newer builds and attached to a spa complete with pool and sauna–needless to say it was about to be a relaxing stay.
After settling into our room (and laying way too long on the comfortable king bed) I made my way down to the sauna and pool area. I was pleasantly surprised by how warm the pool was and really enjoyed the quiet swim (adult pool hours are from 7-11pm) before hopping into the sauna. Now this was where we all really started to unwind. The sauna is reminiscent of a Hobbit-like structure and the large window in the back keeps it from feeling too cramped. If I had it my way, I could have stayed there for the rest of the weekend; but couldn’t miss out on everything else there was so see and experience at Adrift!
If you opt to stay around the property, the hotel restaurant–The Pickled Fish is an adorable establishment located just above the lobby. We went for both breakfast and dinner and thoroughly enjoyed both meals. The view of the beach from our table really elevated the whole experience and I’m still thinking about that Brussels sprouts dish. Our second day there, we checked-out some bikes (free for hotel guests) and headed toward the beach. There are a few paved pathways around that are perfect for enjoying a ride. After we finished up on bikes we decided to take a quick 10-minute drive to Cape Disappointment, which I promise was anything but. We hiked through the trails up to the cape, then up to the lighthouse and back. Living in the heart of the city, it had been a while since I got out into nature like this and I was so impressed by the sprawling sea and lush greenery. The cape is only a short hike up from the parking lot so I highly recommend stopping by on your visit! The rest of the day consisted of a quick trip to the local antique shop and another sauna visit before dinner and a cozy game-night back at the room.
Overall, I was so pleased with my visit to Adrift. The room was cozy and beautifully designed, the food was great and their staff was so knowledgeable, friendly and made us feel right at home. I can’t wait to come back and enjoy another weekend getaway here very soon!
