Event Details
After a chance meeting on a fire escape in Portland, Oregon, the husband and wife duo at the core of The Moonshine fell – luckily not off the fire escape – but instead in love, and they’ve been making music together since 2005. Songwriter Michael Gerard Levasseur (Michael the Blind), a Yankee who grew up in the South, and multi-instrumentalist Rachael Renee’, trailer trash from rural Oregon, found a shared love of old American folk music and grunge rock. Together, they founded the postmodern stringband The Moonshine in 2012, weaving together folk instrumentation and mesmerizing harmonies with a dirty rock ethos. They toured the Western US extensively and released two albums. Just after releasing their second album, Michael and Rachael took a 3 year long detour to Athens, Georgia and the surrounding South, before winding right back up in the Pacific Northwest’s City of Roses. Having put the band back together, the full band tours at larger venues and festivals, with Michael and Rachael bringing intimate duo performances to venues across the Northwest.
Come and enjoy the music at Pickled Fish!
